James Harper
Manager of General
Partner
James is the managing member of the General Partner to Calibogue’s funds, making him responsible for the funds’ day-to-day responsibilities. He began investing the funds’ core investment strategy in 2010 and introduced third-party capital in 2012.
Prior to Calibogue, James worked in BofA Merrill Lynch’s real estate investment banking group. He began his career on active duty as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army, including a 16-month deployment to Mosul & Baghdad, Iraq.
He holds a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Thomas Harper
General Counsel
Tom is heavily involved in transaction execution from both the perspectives of deal specific underwriting and long-term strategic management. He is responsible for negotiating and drafting operating agreements with developers and is heavily involved in any asset level financing negotiations. He is further engaged in all transactional due-diligence at the sponsor, property, and entity levels.
Tom is a partner with Womble Bond Dickinson in Charleston, South Carolina where he lives with his family. He is a graduate of Duke University and Duke University Law School.
JJ Sollazzo
Director
As a Director at Calibogue Capital, JJ’s responsibilities include business development and deal execution. Prior to joining Calibogue, JJ spent six years with Mitsui Fudosan America where he was responsible for sourcing and executing equity investments across several asset classes. He has experience and relationships in major markets across the US, and he was responsible for establishing Mitsui’s presence in several.
JJ graduated from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning with a Master of Regional Planning, as well as a B.A. in economics from Boston College.
Sperry Edwards
Vice President
Sperry is a Vice President at Calibogue Capital, responsible for sourcing and executing investment opportunities for the company. Prior to joining Calibogue, Sperry worked at UBS Investment Bank covering Real Estate, Lodging, and Leisure. While at UBS, Sperry advised real estate clients on M&A as well as public and private capital raises.
Sperry holds a B.A. in economics from Davidson College.
Betty Lazis
Director of Finance and Accounting
Betty is the Director of Finance and Accounting at Calibogue Capital, where her responsibilities include financial and investor reporting, tax management, and administration of investment funding requirements. Prior to joining Calibogue, Betty worked at Ernst & Young (EY) in the Health Assurance practice. Betty has experience auditing investment portfolios with significant alternative investment holdings.
Betty graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
